Tudor Grange Academies Trust are one of the prime examples of how School Stickers rewards systems can be utilized to produce fantastic results.
School stickers aim to provide products and services that can aid schools and academies in finding the most effective ways to reward and motivate students. The Tudor Grange Academies Trust has managed to do exactly that.
The Trust has created one of the most comprehensive reward systems in the country, ‘TG Rewards’, to celebrate and reward the achievements of its students, using School Stickers’ Carrot Rewards and MyStickers technology across the schools in the group.
The scale of the scheme is impressive, generating healthy competition, extra motivation, and helping to forge a common identity.
Steven Groutage, COO, Tudor Grange Academies Trust said, “School Stickers is incredibly good value, the online tools and rewards are incredibly flexible, and we have really been able to make it our own. Our students work incredibly hard and love to collect the variety of stickers and postcards available. The combination of School Stickers and the Carrot Rewards platform is a winning combination.”
The trust is made up of five academies in the West Midlands: three secondary schools and two primaries. Their reward systems are fully integrated and therefore all share the same ethos, common values, and collective goals.
School Stickers contribution
School Stickers printed over a hundred different stickers, postcards, certificates and badges for Tudor Grange, providing an extensive menu of rewards. The rewards are specially designed to reinforce the school branding.
Our rewards work by students logging codes found on the stickers they’re given during class into our MyStickers reward portal. This is integrated with our Carrot Rewards online system so that teachers can track the reward progress of students and offer incentives for students to work towards.
School Stickers has worked closely with the trust to make it possible for the up-to-the-minute Carrot Reward results to be publicly shown on screens around each school, driving students to want to earn more rewards.
TG Rewards system
Here’s a basic run down of how the TG Rewards system works and is implemented by the trust.
Depending on a students behaviour during classes, stickers and postcards are awarded by teachers. These stickers are then put into a student’s ‘planner’, similar to a Panini football sticker album, but no swapping or trading of rewards is allowed.
When a student logs the code from their sticker or postcard into our MyStickers portal using their specific log in details they’re able to save up their merits. Once they’ve banked enough, students are able to spend their merits in the MyStickers’ store where they can buy official TG Rewards Merchandise or even prom tickets!
When specific milestones are reached, students are given a badge to wear on their blazer, reinforcing their sense of pride and achievement.
With so many rewards covering a wide range of subjects and skills, students in the trusts’ academies have many different targets to aspire to, motivating them to work hard to achieve them all.
Safeguarding the system
There are two ways which protect against the reward system being devalued. The first is that the trust has established clear rules and guidelines from what rewards should be given out for, to how many stickers teachers can give out in each class.
The Carrot Rewards portal also safeguards the integrity of the scheme, making it easy for all teachers to see what is being rewarded, and quickly exposing any anomalies. The whole reward system is really simple and easy to use, even when used across a number of different academies.
The Results
The Trust now credits TG Rewards, one of its most successful innovations, as playing a crucial role in the outstanding Ofsted results it now achieves. This is particularly impressive, given that one of the schools brought into the group was classed as a failing school placed in special measures when it was taken over, with major issues with student behaviour and low morale.
The Trust chose School Stickers for its reward system because it believes it offers the best of both worlds. Students receive immediate recognition for their hard work or exemplary behaviour with a sticker. But because this then goes into their planner, and is logged online, it also becomes part of something bigger and longer-term, enabling them to work towards collecting not just all the possible rewards, but helping their class, subject, year and school, to compete against others.
