Making your own instruments for World Music Day 2015!

104009-01World Music Day, also known as “Fête de la Musique” is a festival that takes place on June 21 every year. Originating from Paris in 1982, the aim of the day is to make music free and accessible to all everyone.

Last year there were events in 108 countries and 726 cities around the world, not including France where there were too many events to count!

Usually the day consists of free events organized in parks, public spaces and indoor venues. However at School Stickers we think this is the perfect opportunity for a few hours of music related fun in the classroom!

Make your own!

Whether you’re putting on a show or just making music for fun, making instruments is exciting, develops motor skills and can build on team working skills. Here’s some of our favourite ideas:OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

1) Using a shoe or tissue box (opposite) and a few rubber bands, you can easily make a fun DIY guitar.

2) Boxes, tin cans, paint pots and plenty of other everyday items are perfect for making drums out of.

3) This is one of my favourites, make sure you supervise kids with this one though: Rain sticks.

4) Maracas are easy to make, hold and make great sounds. Kids can also decorate these on their own.
